Ingredients

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 12 oz chicken sausage, sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, fresh or frozen
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes, optional
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add 1 cup of orzo. Cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking.
  2. While the orzo cooks, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 12 ounces of sliced chicken sausage and cook until golden brown, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet with the sausage. Sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant and golden.
  4. Stir in 2 cups of broccoli florets, then add the cooked orzo to the skillet. Toss everything together, allowing the flavors to meld for about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes over the mixture to taste. Stir well to coat everything.
  6. Dish out the chicken sausage broccoli orzo immediately, topping each serving with grated Parmesan cheese.
