Description
Succulent ribeye steak seared to perfection, seasoned simply with salt and pepper, and enhanced with fresh herbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ribeye steak (12 oz)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
- Fresh herbs (optional) (such as thyme or rosemary)
Instructions
- Bring the ribeye steak to room temperature for even cooking.
- Preheat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat until smoking.
- Pat the steak dry and season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
- Add olive oil or butter to the skillet and place the steak in the hot pan, searing for 4-5 minutes without moving it.
- Flip the steak using tongs and sear for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, adding herbs and butter if desired.
- Transfer to a cutting board and rest for at least five minutes before slicing against the grain.
Notes
- Allowing the steak to rest helps retain its juices.
- For best results, use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
