Description
A delicious pasta dish featuring chili oil and perfectly caramelized onions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 300 grams pasta (Choose your favorite type, such as penne or fusilli)
- 1 teaspoon salt (Enhances overall flavor)
- 2 medium onions (Yellow onions for the best flavor)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (Helps in achieving the perfect caramelization)
- 2 cloves garlic (Fresh garlic adds depth)
- 2 tablespoons chili oil (Infuses a spicy kick)
- 1 teaspoon chili flakes (Use to boost the flavor)
- 50 grams Parmesan cheese (optional) (Adds richness)
- 1 bunch fresh herbs (Like parsley or basil for garnish)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chili flakes, cooking until the garlic turns golden and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it infuse.
- In a large skillet, add a splash of olive oil and sliced onions with a pinch of salt. Sauté over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes until they become golden brown and jammy.
- Boil your favorite pasta according to package instructions. Remember to reserve a cup of pasta water before draining.
- Stir in the infused garlic from the chili oil into the caramelized onions and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Toss in the drained pasta, mixing to combine.
- Gradually add the reserved pasta water, a bit at a time, to achieve a silky, glossy sauce. Drizzle the prepared chili oil over the pasta and toss to coat evenly.
- Plate your pasta hot, garnishing with fresh herbs or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for added richness.
Notes
- This dish can be served with additional chili flakes for those who prefer more heat.
